Jatamansi is also known as "Himalayan Spikenard" and is distilled from the roots. It is one of the most effective essential oils for supporting a calm mind and balanced body. It is used by Ayurvedic and Himalayan physicians for its powerful sedative qualities. Those who suffer from worry or other overly active mental habits will benefit immensely from regular use of this special oil. It is calming and grounding and is highly revered for its ability to support deep sleep and to help one work through and release subconscious trauma. This oil is similar to valerian but is preferred because it is less dulling and has a more pleasant fragrance. Spikenard has a strong odor of moist earth. This fragrant root is also known as the ‘yogi root’ and has been used for millennia to increase awareness and ground the mind.
To promote a rejuvenating night’s sleep put one drop of this oil on the bottom of your feet and one on the crown of your head. This oil, prized at the time of Christ, was used by Mary to anoint the feet of Jesus before the last supper.
